DOLPHINS
Did you know that HUMANS are the greatest threat to DOLPHINS?
Dolphins have been around this world for...oh, I don't know! FOREVER! Dolphins are actually very interesting. People say that they are evolved from land creatures, but you can leave that to Darwin to figure that out. See the picture below!
That picture is from Wikipedia. Scientists and Marine Biologists are try to figure out how Dolphins evolved from other land creatures. Interesting.
FACTS ABOUT DOLPHINS
- Marine Mammals
- Almost forty species of dolphins
- Varies in sizes 4 ft to even 30 ft! Yikes!
-They are VERY friendly and playful! like me.
WHAT ABOUT IT?
Okay let's cut the crap. We need to talk about more important things! Dolphins are endangered by humans all the time. Do you WANT to see these cute creatures die? I found three main reasons why dolphins are endangered....by US!!!! (shocking!)
1. Interestingly enough, tuna and dolphins follow the same routes, dolphins get caught in the fishermen's nets which are meant to catch tuna. Dolphins get hurt or they drown as a result. :( How sad.
2. FISHING! Now we have protected laws against fishing for dolphins. From 1960-1972, about 200,000 to 500,000 dolphins were hurt. :( 500,000!!!! Even with these protected laws, dolphins can accidentally get captured by the fishermen. :( poor thing.
3. Pollution. Pollution. POLLUTION! WE (ugly people) pollute rivers, seas and oceans. Since the dolphin is at the top of the food chain, the chemicals that pollute its habitat create the highest level of concentration of these pollutants! This causes dolphins to get diseases! ALSO difficulty to reproduce. (no more baby dolphy)
(You can find more about it at Dolphins and More)
WHAT DO WE DO?
Well, right now there are many many laws that protect dolphins. There's a thing called "Dolphin Safe Label" I don't eat tuna, but people who eat tuna should read this before they buy any canned tuna. There's a label (see below) that has these marks which shows that no dolphins were harmed while catching tuna.
So make sure you go and buy products with these signs on the label.

Check out this article! it's very cool.
